Thursday developments:

LIBYA

The government of longtime strongman Moammar Gadhafi claimed to have retaken the key oil port of Ras Lanuf from opposition forces Thursday. The rebels were clearly on the defensive, but reports that the city had fallen to government troops could not be confirmed independently.
